What is an ABN?
The Australian Business Number is a unique 11-digit number issued by the Australian Business Register to businesses and organisations. You need it to invoice other businesses, register for GST and deal with the ATO.
Why check an ABN?
Before you pay an invoice, confirm the ABN is active and belongs to the business that sent it. If a supplier charges GST, check they are actually registered for GST. If no ABN is quoted, you may need to withhold tax.
How to use Find My ABN
Type the 11-digit ABN (spaces are fine) or the start of the business name, then open the result to see status, GST, entity type and names.
